In yet another stunning show of competence, the federal government is now sending out thousands of stimulus checks to deceased people- most of whom, i’m sure, voted for Barack Obama. When the feds began sending out the checks, cases like the following began popping up (via Fox NY):

Antoniette Santopadre of Valley Stream was expecting a $250 stimulus check. But when her son finally opened it, they saw that the check was made out to her father, Romolo Romonini, who died in Italy 34 years ago. He’d been a U.S. citizen when he left for Italy in 1933, but only returned to the United States for a seven-month visit in 1969.

It’s estimated that anywhere between 8 to 10 thousand checks were sent to the dea, containing millions of dollars. The feds are saying that they were rushed because the checks had to be made out by June. But now questions are being raised about some of the recipients, including the above example, who had never even been entered into the social security system.

This begs the question: do we really want a government that can’t even get something as simple as this right making healthcare decisions for people? I don’t.

At a town hall meeting in New Mexico, President Barack Obama said that we cannot sustain our massive debt by continually borrowing from other countries. He warned ofskyrocketing interest rates if we kept on the current path saying:

“We can’t keep on just borrowing from China…we have to pay interest on that debt, and that means we are mortgaging our children’s future with more and more debt.”

In front of a crowd I’m hoping was struck upside the head with hypocrisy, he stressed that most of our debt was coming from health care, stating we need to drive down the cost. Perhaps the President would havedone good to thought about the debt before spending $600 billion dollars in 100 days and proposing a healthcare reform that his own advisers say will, at the low end, will be 1.5 trillion.

Next Obama discussed the credit problems plaguing middle America, saying that he hopes Congress will pass the credit card reform bill they’re set to debate. This is a bill that would come down hard on Credit card companies and their practices.

The president didn’t mention personal responsibility.

September 4th, 2002- Rep. Porter Gross and ranking Democrat Nancy Pelosi were the first members of Congress to be briefed on the use of enhanced interrogation techniques. Now, Pelosi is saying that she was briefed on how the use was greenlit, but not that it would necessarily be used, saying:

“We were not — I repeat — were not told that waterboarding or any of these other enhanced interrogation methods were used.”

Following this, she says she was informed, but not briefed- whatever that means- and is now facing a barrage of attacks from the media; constantly tripping herself up in a web of lies. On top of this, Obama’s CIA director Leon Panetta and Porter Gross are both disputing Pelosi’s story- saying she did indeed know about the waterboarding. During the press conference addressing this, she accused the CIA of deliberately misleading her and then shifted focus, saying they misled all of America on WMD’s. Nice dancing, Nance.

Gleefully throwing gasoline on the flames is former senior Bush advisor turned pundit Karl Rove, whose column this week included the bi-line: “Nancy Pelosi was an accomplice to ‘torture.’”. Meanwhile, the white house is unsure of how to treat the situation, as they’re also tackling the gitmo bay picture debacle, the auto bailout, and an overhaul of the healthcare system. It would appear Nancy Pelosi is being hung out to dry by the left, proving once again that all the players are expendable when it comes to protecting their greater cause.

After repeatedly stating that the release of alleged torture photos wasnecessary and proper, and that they posed no threat to national security, Robert Gibbs is now saying that Barack Obama suddenly has problems with doing so (but it’s too late.) Gibbs stumbled all over himself in a conference marked by media that were actually doing their jobs. This seemed to take Gibbs off guard as they aggressively went after the illogic of the entire situation.

It’s clear what’s happening here: Barack Obama is getting it both ways. Now that the government didn’t claim national defence would be threatened in trial, they can’t do so during appeal. Obama wants and always has wanted these photos out. Now, realizing it will indeed harm troops, is saying he doesn’t want them released (but knows they will be).

As a politician, he’s covering himself. That’s all this is.

Smokers have experienced it for years, but it seems the time has come for it to expand out to the rest of us. As the senate finance committee seeks ways to soak taxpayers to support the planned 1.5 trillion dollar health care overhaul, they are now looking at taxes on beer, soda- and yes- even more on smokers.

Here in Wisconsin a pack of cigarettes is now $5. Another proposed cigarette tax increase is in talk. And now the feds might be jumping on the bandwagon as well.  This is how the statist works. You see, smoking is bad for you. Therefore, they see it as the state’s duty to stop you from smoking. Or at least hinder it. They’d ban it if they could. So instead they tax.

Good thing Barack Obama is cutting the taxcuts for that “middle class”. But could someone remind me which class a tax raise on beer and smokes would hit hardest? Because I forget.  What’s happening here is simple: Government is finding more ways to control the way you live; telling you you shouldn’t drink or smoke. They’re even considering restricting the amount of sodium allowed in food. If that happens, expect everything to taste awful.

But listen carefully. Do you hear it? Liberty is slipping away.

The White House correspondent’s dinner is a longstanding tradition in Washington. It’s sort of like a toned-down comedy roast, where members of the press gather and speakers take shots at the sitting president. Wanda Sykes took to the stage to joke about the media’s ferverent love of Barack. She lined up a number of decent gags. Then she turned vitriolic. Instead of the tame lashing for every ideology as has come to be expected from the event, Sykes unleashed a vitriolic tirade on Rush Limbaugh, ending with a reark about how she wants his kidneys to fail. It was met with laughs. Most notably by the President.

It goes without saying that a line was crossed. Typically these bits stick to elected officials and don’t go so far as expressing interest in someone’s death. But that’s what Wanda Sykes does. It’s not that shocking. What’s shocking is the obvious double standard at Barack Obama’s delight in such a joke.  Can you imagine the uproar that would ensue if someone joked that Michael Moore should be dead and George Bush was on camera in the corner laughing out loud about it? Keith Olbermann would be airing that footage every night, yelling things about fascism. But the press has apparently decided to downplay this one and we all know why.

Instead, it took Toby Harnden, a Telegraph editor, to call out Sykes on the hateful joke. The telegraph, if you’ll recall, is a British publication. Mr. Harnden is joining the ranks of the ever-growing responsible journalists in the UK press that actually has the gall to report on Barack Obama accurately.  It seems English media has become aware of whatever spell Obama had on them earlier, and are quickly realizing he’s not the idol he’s made out to be by their American counterparts. Consequently, they’ve been the only ones doing their jobs.

It’s unlikely this story will get any coverage over here. CNN has declared Limbaugh is fair game, despite being a private citizen. But I think we all know what would happen if the tables were turned, and this were a joke about any of the left’s outspoken members.

When Barack Obama held his press conference addressing the AIr Force One flyover incident in NYC, he told reporters that he found out along with everyone else- on the news. And that was that. Everyone pretty much bought it. Now someone else has takent he fall for it. ButI can’t help but wonder how it’s possible that Obama wouldn’t know.

First off, this is his primary form of transport. It’s a mobile command center. It’s also his plane. Nobody else has the authority to get it off the ground. Second, everywhere the President goes means that tons of contingency plans are put to work. If any siuation arises, secret service needs to know how to get the president out. So, they wouldn’t see fit to tell Obama that his plane would be unavailable? Hmm.

It’s probably moot now, but it amazesme how people just take this all for granted.

It’s been a while.  Things came up, the blog died down, but the political atmosphere of the county hasn’t changed. Every decision the new administration makes is marked by divisiveness.  From the “scare force one” fiasco to the never ending auto bailouts, this Libetarian isn’t too happy with the direction my country is taken.

I realize it’s fully impossible to cover everything that’s went down since schoolwork lead me astray of the site, but I’m going to address a few things in this giant recap. And from now on I’ll be updating normally.

On Miss California

Miss Califorina, Carrie Prejean, took fire during the Miss USA pageant when she told Perez Hilton that she thinks marriage should be between a man and a woman; after which she was demeaned in every way imaginable. Just for answering a question. What I’m wondering is, as all of these liberal attack dogs were criticizing her for being so “ignorant”, did anyone take into account that the President/Messiah in chief Obama is also against gay marriage? Kind of deflates the argument against the poor girl.

On Nancy Pelosi

I’m disappointed in you, Nance. The fact of the matter is that you knew we wee waterboarding terrorists. But you also knew that it was working, which is why you didn’t say anything. Instead of admitting that enhanced interrogation techniques were a success, you chose to lie about your knowledge of them.

Nancy Pelosi is nowhere nea competent.

On the Auto bailouts:

I wrote back in January that the Auto companies needed to declare bakruptcy, restructure, and limit the involvement of the UAW. Instead, Pesident Obama opted for protecting the unions, and bailed them out. Flash forward  to May; they’re filing fo bankruptcy anyway. The only problem is that under the curent agreement (because the President is so interested in keeping the UAW in power), lots of jobs will be sent overseas under the restructuring. Awesome.

On Obama’s definition of a budget cut:

After announcing a 3.55 trillion dollar budget and a planned massive expansion of government, Obama addresses the concerns of the fiscally responsible with a 17 billion dollar cut. That cut includes a program that pays war widows after their significant others are killed in battle. The fact is that we have no way to pay for this budget and it will be funding things that aren’t necessary.

We now have the largest government in the history of the world. That is a scary prospect.

Obama’s speech to America and the world was a big one. This was a day that many people of all different races, parties, ages had been waiting for. Including myself, glued to the television set for the hour and a half leading up to his speech I kept thinking to myself “what is he going to say?” Then he took the oath which was nearly butchered by our chief justice.

Obama stepped up to the podium and began to speak. Some analysts like CNN’s Jeffery Toobin said it wasn’t a very memorable speech, maybe not to him but I’ll never forget it. It was a powerful moment and while I admit it was not as good as say his legendary speech on race in America it spoke to me and it spoke to everyone. It’s important to note this was the first presidential inauguration speech to mention the Muslim world a bold but appreciated move on Obama’s part.

The one line at this moment I remmeber the most from his sppech was “It is not whether our government is too big or too small, it’s whether does it work?” In my opinion all people no matter which side of the aisle can agree on that. As the cameras broke to the crying and nearly crying mass of people I couldn’t help but think one day I’d be telling my grandchildren about this moment.

So I ask you all, what did you think of Obama’s speech?

After months of anticipation New York Governor David Paterson announced today at noon eastern time former Senator Hilary Clinton’s successor the relatively unknown Kristen Gillibrand. Paterson stated he felt she was the most suitable person for the dog during the press conference. When now senator Gillibrand took the stage she honored Secretary Clinton emphasizing that she would try to fill the big shoes left for her.

This appointment comes off a whirl wind of political mystique involving Caroline Kennedy who just earlier this week withdrew her bid to become Clinton’s replacement. At this time no one seems to be releasing the very reason why she scrapped her bid, the reason being given is “personal issues.”

Sen. Gillibrand has only served one term as a Representative,  however the democrat’s aggressive victory in a Republican strong hold has turned a few heads. It should be noted that though she represent one of the nation’s most progressive states she is a fairly conservative Democrat, Gillibrand is an advocate of gun rights and is endorsed by the NRA. Paterson who will be up for election himself in two years due to being an appointee himself refused to answer who else was on the short list of possible senators at this time.
